| Project Description:
The University Area Community Social Services Center is an approximately
6,400 sq. ft. facility. The center’s mission is to provide access
to medical coverage and limited financial assistance for eligible low-income
county residents. The facility shares property with a health clinic, vital
statistics and W.I.C.(Women’s Infants Children) Services.
|
| |
| Artwork Goals Many customers seeking
services at the center are in a crisis situation. Therefore, the selected
artwork should be calm and inspiring to the patrons as they wait for services.
Any exterior artwork must coordinate with the overall University Area
Community Master Plan. The master plan includes proposed infrastructure
improvements to the 22nd Street corridor and will directly impact the
center. |
| |
| |
| Opportunities for Public Art
There are several opportunities for public art both inside and outside
the facility. They include, but are not limited to the following:
Exterior Covered walkway
This open air covered walkway links the parking lot and the street with
the various department entranceways. This walkway will be a prominent focal
point after completion of the improvements to the 22nd Street corridor.
Multi-Purpose Room
This room is used for overflow customer waiting and various community
meetings. The room has significant wall space available for art.
Customer Service Waiting Room
This area is especially busy. The area directly behind the receptionist’s
desk is available. |
