Sidewalk Master Plan Column Headings Legend
  • Ranking: Proposed segment's draft B/C ratio ranking against all other candidate segments.
  • Seg ID: Segment Identification Number (as displayed on prioritization maps in lieu of road names, due to map size limitations).
  • Existing Lanes: Number of through travel lanes on the segment - denoted by "#" and roadway type such as undivided, divided, one-way etc. - denoted by "Type".
  • Posted Spd (mph): Posted speed limit on the segment.
  • Width of Pavement:
    • Wt: Width of outside lane, measured from the outside lane stripe to the edge of pavement (including shoulder, if any)
    • Wi: Width of unpaved shoulder, if any
    • Wps: Width of paved shoulder, if any
    • % OPS: Percent of segment with on-street parking
  • Cross Section (C/S): Roadway cross-section type, whether Urban or Rural (i.e., curb and gutter or ditch/swale system, respectively).
  • % with Sidewalk: Directional sidewalk coverage along each segment.
  • Sidewalk Width: Width of any existing sidewalk along each segment.
  • Right-of-way Width (R/W) (ft): Estimated width of right-of-way along each segment.
  • R-side Profile Cond. (1-3): Type of existing profile condition along the side of the road, i.e., flat shoulder, swale, or ditch.
  • Pedestrian LOS: These columns depict the numerical, calculated pedestrian level of service (LOS) value and corresponding LOS grade for the segment's existing walking conditions.
  • Delta RPC w/ LOS "B": The absolute difference in the Roadside Pedestrian Conditions (RPC) between the existing Pedestrian LOS value and the adopted Pedestrian LOS value (in this case 2.5 for "B").
  • Delta RPC: 100% Scale: Shows the delta (difference) in Roadside Pedestrian Conditions (RPC) converted to a 100% scale; all benefit-side criteria have been converted to a 100% scale for equivalent comparison purposes.
  • School Demand Results: 100% Scale: Depicts the potential trip activity for area schools on a 100% scale.
  • Public Votes: 100% Scale: Illustrates the number of times the particular road segment was "voted" on by residents either in the first round of public workshops or via the "Unfunded Sidewalk Request List".
  • % of Sidewalk Needed: The percentage of sidewalk needed to complete at least one side of the segment with sidewalks, end to end.
  • Length (mi): Length of the segment in miles.
  • Recommended Facility Type: Denotes description of the facility type selected for the segment; following is the definition of the six facility types:
    1. A1 - At grade concrete sidewalk, no R-O-W required
    2. A2 - At grade concrete sidewalk, R-O-W required
    3. B1 - Concrete sidewalk with slope adjustment, no R-O-W required
    4. B2 - Concrete sidewalk with slope adjustment, R-O-W required
    5. C1 - Concrete sidewalk with enclosed ditch, no R-O-W required
    6. C2 - Concrete sidewalk with enclosed ditch, R-O-W required
  • Facility Type Unit Cost: The unit cost (per mile) associated with the facility type.
  • Segment Benefit Level: The benefit level associated with construction of a sidewalk along the particular segment; benefit is calculated by:
    (0.4 x Delta RPC)+(0.5 x School Demand)+(0.1 x Public Votes)
  • Segment Improvement Cost: Estimated cost to construct individual segments.
  • Cumulative Improvement Cost: Running total of estimated segments costs based on draft ranking.
  • Segment B/C Ratio: Shows the benefit-to-cost ratio based on the calculated facility cost and the benefit level information reported in the previous columns; it is calculated by:
    (0.4 x Delta RPC)+(0.5 x School Demand)+(0.1 x Public Votes) Cost
