both structural and non-structural, including culverts, drains, ponds, and
even wetland restoration projects.

The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit is a federal
mandate that requires municipalities to monitor and improve water quality
in their respective jurisdiction.
Education

The Specialized Services Unit offers several award-winning and federally recognized programs to teach people about stormwater management and pollution prevention.
Wetland Mitigation
In Hillsborough County, adversely impacted wetlands must be replaced or enhanced. Creating wetlands requires many man-hours, physical work, and an expert knowledge of natural systems.
Canal Dredging Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU)

This is a new program which assists citizens in restoring coastal canals impacted by the accumulation of sediment.
Master Planning

The section has spent several years studying Hillsborough County and determining
problem areas, critical habitats, and projecting future needs. The result
is the Watershed Master Plans, which are constantly updated to remain
current through a state-of-the-art Geographic Information System (GIS).
