Working with the Hillsborough School Board, the Sheriff's Office and individual schools, we develop plans for school-related traffic projects. These projects include Pedestrian Signals and Crossings, School Zones, Parking Prohibitions, and School Signing.

In support of this, we conduct traffic studies, radar speed studies, and vehicle and pedestrian counts. We evaluate these data to determine appropriate traffic control devices for the situation, using established standards and engineering judgement.

We also look for ways to make our tax dollars go farther. One example of this is the school flasher depicted on the right.  It is solar powered and self-contained, saving both installation costs and operating expenses.
