An important part of an Integrated Pest Management program is Surveillance. This involves a variety of trapping methods to sample the population of adult mosquitoes, as well as a Sentinel Chicken program, which is used to monitor the presence of several types of Encephalitis viruses as they appear in birds, before they reach the human population.
