Symmes Road & East Bay Road Intersection Improvements (CIP #63073067 )
The project will include an Interim phase and an Ultimate phase.
The Interim phase is funded for both the design and construction. The construction is limited to the installation of a new traffic signal with mast arms, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant ramps and pedestrian crosswalks. No Right-of-way is anticipated to be needed for the installation of mast arms. This phase is scheduled for construction in the Fall of 2012. Construction for the interim phase is approximately $330,000
The Ultimate phase, which is also currently in design, is not funded for construction. Construction of this phase will be scheduled as funds become available. The Design phase is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2012.
The proposed Ultimate phase improvements would include:
- On Symmes Road, add an exclusive eastbound left-turn lane and an exclusive westbound left-turn lane.
- On East Bay Road, add an exclusive southbound right-turn lane.
- Add curb and gutter, sidewalks, and bike lanes along both sides of Symmes Road, with the exception that sidewalk will not be added along the northwest leg of Symmes Road due to limited right-of-way.
- Add curb and gutter, sidewalks, and bike lanes along the northwest leg and a paved shoulder along the northeast leg of East Bay Road
- No improvements are proposed on East Bay south of the intersection other than adding ADA ramps on the radius returns.
