The Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District recently sponsored a Poster Contest for Fifth Grade Hillsborough County students. There were 89 posters submitted to be judged. The theme was "Life on the Farm". First Place winner Alexandria Santiago, from Buckhorn Elementary School, won $20, trophy and a ribbon; 2nd Place winner Christina Rodriguez, from Trapnell Elementary, won $10, trophy and a ribbon; and 3rd Place winner Michael King, from Brooker Elementary, $5, trophy, and a ribbon.

The contest gives the students an opportunity to share their thoughts about soil, water and related natural resource issues. It also highlights the educational outreach efforts for conservation districts.
