| On December 6, 2006 the Hillsborough Board of County
Commissioners created a Transportation Task Force to provide recommendations
on ways to improve transportation in Hillsborough County. The Task Force
presented its Phase I recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
on August 1, 2007. Those recommendations were subsequently included and
approved in the County’s 2007-2013 Capital Improvements Program.
Phase II meetings began on December 3, 2007. The second phase will concentrate
on regional issues and longer term transportation recommendations.
The Task Force, as part of the second phase, is hosting public meetings, along with the Metropolitan Planning Organization, HART and TBARTA, in May and June 2009 to discuss the components of the transportation plan and how it may be funded in Hillsborough County. The TTF plans to bring final Phase II recommendations to the County Commission in the fall.
