Earth Day Invasive Plant Blitz

Join us for an Earth Day invasive plant removal extravaganza at Camp Bayou Nature Preserve!

Help keep this beautiful preserve and the plants and wildlife who live here happy and healthy by removing their non-native invasive foes. We'll separate into small groups to minimize contact and explore this beautiful preserve while helping it thrive.

Event Details

  1. Things to know

    • Cost: FREE
    • Participants should meet at the nature center, down the driveway at the end of 24th St.
    • Weather related cancellations are possible, raincheck provided if cancelled
    • Walk/Hiking length:
      • Length: ~2 miles
    • Minimum age requirement: 8 years or older
      • Under 18 must be accompanied by adult

    • Water in refillable container
    • Closed-toe shoes
    Recommended to bring
    • Small backpack with hydration system
    • Snacks
    • Hat
    • Water friendly shoes
    • Long-sleeved shirt
    • Change of clothes
    • Sunglasses
    • Sunscreen
    • Bug spray
    • Work gloves
    • Personal tools
  3. Safety precautions

    We will have extra safety precautions in place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

    • Water is not provided so bring enough to last for the whole event
    • Bring a mask for moments when social distancing is not possible
    • To help reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread, do not share food and beverages with those not in your household
