Kick off National Consumer Protection Week with Shredfest 2023, a free professional document shredding event.

Hillsborough County Consumer Protection is here to help you thwart identity theft.

Residents may bring up to three copy-paper sized boxes or kitchen-sized trash bags of items. They can also drop off old, unwanted electronic devices that will be securely wiped cleaned and disposed of for free.

Examples of documents and electronic devices accepted:

• Old bank documents
• Tax records older than seven years
• Junk mail containing personal data (name, address, etc.)
• Unnecessary bills and receipts
• Old travel documents
• Expired home/car insurance policies
• Pay stubs older than four years
• Sticky notes or documents containing passwords
• Unnecessary paper copies and duplicates
• Desktops
• Laptops
• Cellphones
• Circuit boards
• Game consoles
• Hard drives
• Printers

Commercial shredding will not be permitted at this event.
