The COVID-19 state of local emergency declaration has been in place in Hillsborough County since March 12, enacted by the former Hillsborough County Emergency Policy Group.
On August 5, the BOCC approved an amendment to the County’s Emergency Management Ordinance that dissolved the EPG and restored emergency management authority for all disasters, hurricanes/tropical storms, emergency occurrences, pandemics, and other threats back to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
Until further notice the BOCC will hold a special meeting weekly on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.
The special meetings will be conducted virtually, via a conferencing application. The public and the media can access the meetings live at:
- Hillsborough County's Facebook page: HillsboroughFL
- The County's official YouTube channel: YouTube.com/HillsboroughCounty
- The County's HTV channels on cable television: Spectrum 637 and Frontier 22
- The HCFLGov.net website by going to HCFLGov.net/newsroom and selecting the "Live Meeting" button
Public comment will be accepted. Persons who wish to speak should go to the BOCC Special Meeting: Local State of Emergency, COVID-19 form for more information about the rules and to sign up.
