This Council prepares a tourist development plan for the Board of County Commissioners, recommends uses for the tourist development tax revenue, and monitors trust fund spending. It also makes recommendations to the Commissioners for developing tourism in the area.
Membership:
The members of this Council shall be appointed by the BOCC and shall be comprised of 11 members. Composition is specified as follows:- 4 Elected Officials -
- County Commissioner - Chair of the BOCC automatically serves as Chair
- City of Tampa
- City of Temple Terrace
- City of Plant City
- No less than 3 and no more than 4 Hotel/Motel Industry Reps
- No less than 3 and no more than 4 Tourist-Related Industry Reps
This includes owners or operators of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations in the County and subject to a tourist development tax.
