The Medical Examiner takes a deeper look into the cause of death in certain situations, including suspicious cases

What we do

The Medical Examiner Department conducts investigations to determine the cause of death in certain situations, including deaths under suspicious circumstances or when a person was in apparent good health. These investigations often, but not always, require an autopsy. The department is also responsible for the disposition of unclaimed human remains.

Services we offer

Autopsy Reports

The reports are usually available 18 weeks after the death.

Autopsy reports may also be requested online by sending an email to theĀ ME Records Request. Administrative inquires can be made by calling (813) 914-4500, Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
