This 1100-acre Preserve contains two lakes, dry pine and oak woods, freshwater marshes, seasonally wet pine flatwoods, and cypress swamps. There are two lakes in the preserve; Lake Dan is an approximate 2.5 mile roundtrip hike (see map).

Fishing, hiking and equestrian information

  • Parking for fishing and hiking access is located at 19116 Huckavalle Road
  • Trailer parking for equestrian users is located at 11009 Tarpon Springs Road
  • The equestrian trail is 5.6 miles in length and will be closed at the peak of the summer rainy season during flooded conditions
  • We do not provide horseback riding rentals; you must bring your own horse

Always be prepared when hiking on nature preserves:

  • Bring plenty of water
  • Download the map
  • Tell someone your plan
  • Wear proper shoes and sun protection
  • Stay on marked trails
  • During the rainy season, many trails will have standing water.
