The Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park and Rear Admiral Leroy Collins, Jr, Veterans Museum was established to provide a centralized location to which all citizens and visitors could memorialize and honor the Veterans of all eras. The park also serves as a grounds for regional ceremonies on Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Patriots Day; along with a variety of organized events. It has a reputation as a well-designed location for reading, reflection, meditation, picnicking, gathering as a family, or walking/jogging it’s many paths. The Veterans Resource Center is also located on the grounds of the park at 3610 US 301 N and offers services for veterans.

The park's 14 war memorials currently include:

There are provisions for a new museum building and nearly twenty memorials, including the six already built.
