Library's New Online Catalog Transforms the Way Cardholders Find Resources
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2019) - The online catalog used by thousands of Hillsborough County library cardholders every day has undergone a major upgrade to better connect users with books, movies, music, technology, and new experiences. The changes also make it easier to access the catalog through mobile devices and interact with other readers.
Try out the new catalog, called HCPLC Connect, at HCPLC.org before March 2 and earn points in a contest with a top prize of an Amazon Kindle tablet. The next four top point-getters will receive Amazon gift cards.
The improvements were made in response to feedback from library patrons. Among the new features:
- Improved search experience to help readers find what they're looking for easily and quickly.
- Mobile-friendly catalog that works with a variety of devices.
- Reading recommendations features that include personalized reading lists and "while you wait" lists for popular titles.
- Community-created content that allows customers to rate and review titles, then share them with others through the catalog and social media.
The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative has launched a contest to introduce cardholders to HCPLC Connect. The library patron earning the most points by March 2 will win an Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8 tablet; the next four top point-getters will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. Points are earned by rating a title, writing a review, or other activities. For complete rules and to access the new catalog, go to HCPLC.org.
