Estate Planning Webinar is Among Classes Offered by Extension Service in July

Hillsborough County, Fla. (July 3, 2019) - Hillsborough County Extension Service, in partnership with the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, offers a wide variety of interesting educational classes, seminars, and workshops on such topics as parenting, youth development, gardening, nutrition, money management, agriculture, and professional certifications reviews and exams.

Gardening and Landscaping

Compost Happens, Microirrigation, and Rainwater Harvesting Workshops
Saturday, July 13 from 8:30 to 11:30 AM
Hillsborough County Extension Service, 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner

Learn how to turn trash into composting treasure, install a microirrigation system for a healthy and attractive lawn and landscape while conserving water, and make your own rain barrel using a plastic, 55-gallon food-grade drum. First-time attendees will receive a compost bin and thermometer, microirrigation kit, and rain barrel (limit one each per household). Topics include water resources in Florida, irrigation basics, troubleshooting irrigation systems, fertilizer calibration, Florida-Friendly Landscaping apps, septic systems and their impact on the environment, general retention pond management, and aquatic plant selection. Child Care Provider Training: Active Times to Quiet Times - Making Transitions Easier

Exam Review Classes for Private Agricultural Applicator and CORE Standards
Thursday, July 11 at 8 AM
Manatee County Cooperative Extension Service, 1303 17th St. W. in Palmetto

A license is necessary for persons who apply or supervise the application of restricted use pesticides for agricultural production such as nursery, greenhouse, farm, or grove. An exam voucher is required for each person who will be taking an exam. Two classes will be offered. For more information, contact Lisa Hickey at (941) 722-4524.

Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance and Limited Lawn and Ornamental Pesticide License Exam Review and Exam Session
Thursday, July 11 from 8 AM to 5 PM

This class provides six hours of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services-approved training and exam session necessary to obtain the Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Certification, and provides a review and exam session for the Limited Lawn and Ornamental Certification. A voucher number is required to take the exams.


Green Industry-Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Instructor Training
Tuesday, July 16 from 8:30 AM to 1 PM

Aquatic Weed Control Exam Preparation
Monday, July 22 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County, Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road in Sarasota

This training offers a review of material required to complete or renew the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Aquatic Restricted Use Pesticide licensing certification. Attendees will receive a maximum of four CEUs in the following categories: Aquatic, Natural Areas, Right-of-Way, Demonstration and Research. A voucher number is required to take the exams.
