Two More Hillsborough Libraries Offering U.S. Passport Application Acceptance Services
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 10, 2019) - The Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library system's U.S. passport application acceptance service has proven so successful that they've doubled their efforts.
Two more libraries - New Tampa Regional Library and Town 'N Country Regional Library - are now assisting first-time passport applicants, who must submit their documentation and sign their paperwork in person at a U.S. Department of State-authorized Passport Acceptance Facility.
Appointments are necessary, and can be made by calling (813) 273-3652. An appointment must be made for each applicant, and all applicants must be present. Library passport services are for new applicants, and not for renewal services.
Each of the four libraries that are Passport Acceptance Facilities offer evening and Saturday appointments in addition to daytime hours. They are:
- Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico
- Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library, 3910 S. Manhattan Ave. in Tampa
- New Tampa Regional Library, 10001 Cross Creek Blvd. in Tampa
- Town 'N Country Regional Library, 7606 Paula Drive, Ste. 120 in Tampa

Sept. 14 Passport Fair
Prefer flexibility in your schedule? The Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library, 1505 N. Nebraska Ave. in Tampa, is hosting a Passport Fair on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Extra staff will be on hand to assist first-time applicants for U.S. passports. No appointments are necessary.
Event organizers remind applicants that it's important to bring all of the required paperwork, including specific documentation showing identification and proof of U.S. citizenship. Fees must be in the form of checks or money orders. Complete details about what is required may be found at HCPLC.org.
Travelers should apply for a passport card or passport book well before their trip. It typically takes the U.S. Department of State four to six weeks to process an application.
