Drawing to Adopt Rescue Dogs Set for Thursday

Tampa Bay Bucs punter Bradley Pinion will draw names

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2019) - Hillsborough County Pet Resources will hold a drawing at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, to determine which of the more than 1,300 applicants will have the opportunity to adopt one of the dogs recently rescued from a local dog breeder.

The names will be drawn at random by Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter Bradley Pinion, who recently created the #puntsforpups program with the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center. The drawing will take place at the Frederick B. Karl County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa, and will be streamed live on the Pet Resource Center's Facebook page; media is welcome to attend.

Applicants will be notified by email Friday of their status. Those chosen to adopt will select and pick up their dogs on Sunday, Nov. 17, at All People's Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave. in Tampa. Adopters will be let into the center in small groups of about 15 at a time to select their dogs. Adoptions will begin at 10 a.m.; adopters will be notified in advance of the order in which they can expect to select their dog and an approximate adoption time window.

Pinion and his wife own three dogs, two of them rescue dogs. Under the #puntforpups program, the Pinions will sponsor a dog at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center for every Buccaneers punt downed inside the 20 yard line. Each Monday after the game, the Pinions will go to the PRC, pick out the dogs and post them to @thepinionpups on Instagram. Pinion and his wife will pay the adoption fees for the dogs, which will each come with a goodie bag.

The Pet Resource Center is Hillsborough County's only open-admissions shelter, meaning all dogs and cats are accepted regardless of size, age, medical condition, or breed. The PRC is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
