Pirates Love Puppies. It's Science.

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Jan. 15, 2020) - Mere days before their planned vicious onslaught on an unsuspecting City of Tampa, members of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla will take a break from pillaging and plundering to play with adorable dogs and cats at Hillsborough County's pet shelter.

Krewe members, decked out in full pirate garb, will invade the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16. They will help exercise and socialize dogs in the shelter's ROMP - Receiving Outside Meaningful Playtime - program, and frolic with cats in the shelter's cat meeting room.

The Pet Resource Center, 440 N. Falkenburg Road, is the only open-admission shelter in Hillsborough County, meaning it accepts dogs and cats regardless of breed, size, or medical condition. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Visit the center or search online to view hundreds of adoptable animals.
