Raymond James Stadium COVID-19 Testing Site to be Open on Monday, July 6
Hillsborough County, Fla. (July 2, 2020) - Hillsborough County's Raymond James Stadium COVID-19 coronavirus testing site will be closed on Saturday, July 4, so that staff and volunteers can celebrate Independence Day with their families. To make up for that day, the site will be open on Monday, July 6, it was announced to the Hillsborough County Emergency Policy Group today.
In order to get a free COVID-19 test in Hillsborough County, residents do not need to have symptoms, insurance, or a note from a physician. Residents do need to make an appointment for the test by registering online anytime at HCFLGov.net/CovidTesting, or by calling (888) 513-6321 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Next week, the Raymond James site will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Saturday, July 11. After then, the site will return to its regular schedule of Tuesday through Saturday operations.
In other action, EPG members:
- Received an update that an online dashboard with information on Hillsborough COVID-19 statistics and trends will be finalized next week. EPG members had requested the creation of the dashboard so residents can view the data upon which decisions are being made to respond to the pandemic.
- Received a report from the County Attorney's Office that Gov. Ron DeSantis extended an executive order that provides relief from mortgage foreclosure and eviction. The order is now in effect until Aug. 1.
- Extended a state of local emergency enacted in response to the pandemic. By Florida statute, a state of local emergency can be in effect for only seven days, unless rescinded. The declaration gives the County Administrator and emergency managers the ability to quickly take certain actions to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community, and provides a path for federal reimbursement of certain expenses.
The Hillsborough County Emergency Policy Group is comprised of three County Commissioners, the mayors from the cities of Plant City, Tampa, and Temple Terrace, the Sheriff, and Chairman of the School Board. Authority is granted by Article 8 of the Florida Constitution, Section 125.66 and Chapter 252, Florida Statutes. Hillsborough County enacted Hillsborough County Code of Ordinances and Laws Chapter 22, Article II, Sections 22-23 in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the County's residents during declared emergencies.
The next EPG meeting is scheduled Monday, July 6 at 1:30 p.m.
