Precautionary Boil Water Notice Issued for Valrico Neighborhood

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 27, 2020) - The Hillsborough County Water Resources Department has issued a precautionary boil water notice for two customers in the Bloomingdale Oaks Subdivision in Valrico.

Water service was temporarily interrupted Thursday afternoon and evening due to an 8-inch water line break in the 3400 block of Cade Lane in Valrico, just south of Bloomingdale Avenue and west of Lithia-Pinecrest Road. Crews had to shut the water off to two homes in the 3400 block of Cade Lane. Initially, crews anticipated shutting the water off to 184 single-family homes in the subdivision, but only two homes were impacted.

By 11:19 p.m. Thursday, the water line was repaired and water restored.

The two customers are advised to boil water as a precautionary measure until a rescission notice is issued.

The Hillsborough County Health Department requires a precautionary boil water notice after pressure in the lines drops below a certain level. Although it is unlikely there is any contamination in the system, the notice means customers are advised, as a precautionary measure, to boil tap water for cooking and drinking. A full rolling boil for one minute is sufficient; cool before using. Allow the water to run until it is clear before washing clothes. Discard any ice from automatic ice-makers.
