Hillsborough County 4-H Hosts Open House to Share Program and Club Opportunities with Students

4-H activities include dog training, livestock, robotics, aeronautics, gardening, and photography

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Aug. 25, 2021) - UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough County is hosting a Hillsborough County 4-H open house this week to introduce students and parents to the wonderful programs, clubs, and opportunities offered through the organization that was founded more than 100 years ago.

The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301, Tampa, FL, 33610. The open house will be held in the Pavilion Room at the Florida State Fairgrounds and is best accessed by entering through Orient Road.

Hillsborough County 4-H is a youth development program managed by UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough County for students ages 5 to 18 years old. It offers educational activities, promotes life skills, and encourages civic participation.

Hillsborough County 4-H hosts a club program that covers a wide range of topics, including dog training, livestock, gardening, and photography. The possibilities with the Hillsborough County 4-H clubs are limitless, with each club encouraged to pursue new themes and disciplines.

In addition to community clubs, Hillsborough County 4-H offers two distinct after-school programs. One after-school program focuses on robotics, aeronautics, and engineering. The other after-school program educates students on water conservation, water resources, and steps to protect water for future use.

Additionally, Hillsborough County 4-H sponsors an annual public speaking competition for fourth- and fifth-graders. It also co-hosts an annual agriculture field trip, AgVenture, for Hillsborough County third-graders.
