Reduce Your Use Tampa Bay Campaign Expands and Relaunches

Organizations Kick Off September Events to Cut Plastic Waste

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 8, 2021) - The Reduce Your Use Tampa Bay campaign is growing its efforts to bring together local governments, businesses, and organizations to reduce the use of single-use plastics, and it is highlighting the initiative with events and programs throughout September.

Founded in 2019 by Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa, and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful to encourage individuals and businesses to combat single-use plastic pollution, the partnership and its mission are now expanding across the bay to add Pinellas County, the City of St. Petersburg, and Keep Pinellas Beautiful.

The expansion kicks off with several September events and programs to encourage Tampa Bay area residents and businesses to take small steps to reduce the impact of single-use plastics on the environment. To learn about the September events, programs, and challenges, visit  More Sustainable September Challenge  or contact your participating municipality for more information.

The partnering organizations will roll out community events and social media campaigns across the region during September, with a focus on the plastic pollution problem, what local agencies are doing, and how businesses and individuals can get involved.

Whether participating in a community litter clean-up or swapping a disposable plastic item for a reusable version, everyone can take one small step to reduce plastic pollution. Businesses who make a commitment to reducing waste can also officially join the Reduce Your Use campaign to have their successes featured. Businesses can partner by submitting their pledge form.

Residents and businesses on both sides of the bay are invited to visit ReduceYourUseTampaBay.org to take a pledge to reduce waste and see tips on how to get started.
