Hillsborough County Seeks Public's Input on Census-Mandated Redistricting
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2021) - Hillsborough residents have an opportunity to participate in the redistricting process in the coming weeks at four public open houses across the County or virtually at HCFLGov.net/HCEngage.
Redistricting is the constitutionally-mandated redrawing of local, state, and federal political boundaries every 10 years following the federal Census to account for changes in population during the previous decade. While the final map is decided by vote of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, Hillsborough County welcomes residents' comments throughout the process.
Residents who wish to participate in person can attend one of the four public open houses listed below.
- District 1 - Monday, September 20 at 6 PM in Ruskin Branch Library
- District 2 - Tuesday, September 21 at 6 PM in Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library
- District 3 - Wednesday, September 22 at 6 PM in All Peoples Life Center
- District 4 - Friday, September 24 at6 PM in Bloomingdale Regional Library
Public Engagement Opportunity
The County will conduct a virtual, online public engagement using the Hillsborough Engagement Hub to collect feedback from the public. Public comment for redistricting is open between Sunday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 25 at 11:59 p.m. Visit HCFLGov.net/HCEngage to participate.
