Hillsborough County Opens New Site for Free Pfizer Booster Shots, Vaccinations, and Testing

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Oct. 1, 2021) - Hillsborough County is opening a new location for residents to receive free COVID-19 testing and the Pfizer vaccine, including the Pfizer booster shot for residents 18 and over who meet the requirements.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 4, Progress Village Park, located at 8701 Progress Blvd., Tampa, FL, 33619, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for residents who want a free COVID test or a Pfizer vaccine.

Walkups are accepted for COVID testing at the Progress Village Park site. Both the rapid Antigen and PCR tests will be offered. For information on testing at Progress Village Park, call (850) 583-2419.

Hillsborough County is asking residents to make an appointment to receive a free vaccine or a booster shot. Appointments can be made starting at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 at Once on the site, click "create an account," select "vaccines," and follow the steps to schedule an appointment. For those who have not yet received a vaccine, the Pfizer vaccine will be available for people ages 12 and older. The vaccine will also be offered to people who have received their first Pfizer vaccine dose and are in the allotted window to receive their second vaccine dose.

The booster will only be given to people who meet the following criteria:

  • Fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine
  • Received second Pfizer vaccine dose at least six months prior to receiving the booster
  • Residents who SHOULD get booster shots are:
  • 65 years old or older
  • 50 to 64 years old with underlying medical conditions
  • Residents in long-term care facilities
  • Residents who MAY get booster shots:
  • 18-49 years old with underlying medical conditions
  • 18-64 years old at increased risk because of occupational or institutional settings

A person wanting to receive a booster must present their vaccination card that proves they received the Pfizer vaccination and states the date the second vaccination was administered. People who have lost their vaccination cards can visit here to request a new vaccination card or visit the location where they were originally vaccinated.

COVID-19 testing and vaccinations are free. Proof of medical insurance is recommended and should be presented at the time of the COVID-19 test or vaccination. People without medical insurance will still be tested or vaccinated for free.
