Hillsborough County Designing an Expanded Solid Waste Facility on Linebaugh Avenue

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Oct. 13, 2021) - Hillsborough County is designing multiple improvements to the Northwest Solid Waste Facility on Linebaugh Avenue to expand services and meet the needs of the growing community.

The $15 million capital improvement project at 8001 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa, FL, 33625 is expected to begin in late 2021 and be complete in late 2022.

The purpose of the project is to improve customer service and safety in addition to providing more convenient disposal options to customers.

Planned site improvements include:

  • Increasing the Community Collection Center capacity and improving efficiency by adding 10 collection bays
  • Adding a new Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility
  • Providing faster service at the Transfer Station and Yard Waste Processing facility by relocating the existing commercial scale house and adding an additional scale
  • Reducing traffic impacts on Linebaugh Avenue by improving onsite traffic flow and increasing capacity for onsite queuing of vehicles

The facility will remain fully operational during construction, and all construction activities will take place within the existing facility's property boundaries.
