Holiday Closings
Independence Day - All libraries in the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative will be closed on Monday, July 4, for Independence Day.

Aquatic Superheroes and Comic Book Sea Creatures
Wednesday, July 6, at 6:30 p.m.
Take a deep dive into representations of oceans and their depths in comics, from Jules Verne to Aquaman to Narwhal and Jelly. Presented by Dr. Justin Wigard. This event is for all ages. Register through the calendar feature at HCPLC.org.

Friday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m.

Celebrate our Oceans of Adventure Summer Reading theme with us as we read selections of this Ernest Hemingway classic in English (The Old Man and the Sea) and Spanish (El viejo y el mar). ZT Saves: River Otters
Monday, July 11, at 11 a.m.

During this live, online program you will meet an otter, ask animal care professionals questions, and learn how you can support the species in the wild. Recommended for all ages. Presented in partnership with ZooTampa and the Lowry Park Zoological Society of Tampa, Inc. "ZT Saves" is committed to the conservation of wildlife in Florida and how everyone can help save endangered species throughout the world.

This program is part of Summer Reading 2022. It is also part of a project funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The History of Tampa's Ports
Tuesday, July 12, at 2 p.m.

Explore the history of Tampa's ports and how the industry evolved from Tampa Harbor to Port Tampa to the Port of Tampa. Almost 200 years in the making, Tampa's ports have moved all types of cargo to and from Florida's west coast. This event is recommended for teens and adults.

An Overview to Historic Sanborn Maps
Tuesday, July 12, at 5 p.m.

Some of the most intriguing insights into Tampa's history can be found in Sanborn fire insurance maps. They give an amazing insight into how the city grew and changed over time. Learn how to use them in this overview. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Money Talks: How Banking Records Contextualize Florida History
Wednesday, July 13, at 5 p.m.

This presentation will examine the Florida Banking Records collection. It will focus on the origin of the records, how they have been handled, and why these records are important to understanding the history of the Tampa Bay area. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. This program is presented as part of Archives Awareness Week and is for adults. Augmented Reality: Ocean Worlds
Wednesday, July 13, at 6:30 p.m.

Book e-Club for Kids: Nim's Island by Wendy Orr
Thursday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Let's get together and celebrate the best parts of the book! In support of our Summer Reading program, we will be reading "Nim's Island" by Wendy Orr. Nim is a resourceful girl who lives on a beautiful island with her father and her animal friends. When her father sails off to study plankton, Nim stays behind, but becomes concerned when her father's calls stop coming. Paint Your Ocean
Wednesday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m.

Join The Color Express for a virtual ocean-themed painting class. You will be amazed at what you can create through this 30-minute step-by-step instructional program. attendees will need these supplies. This event is for all ages. Register through the calendar feature at HCPLC.org.

Story Time with ZooTampa: Wonderful Watershed
Thursday, July 21, at 10 a.m.

Stories, action rhymes, songs, and interactive activities online make up this special program that combines an animal experience while highlighting early literacy skills and encourages reading readiness and social interaction. ZooTampa's participation with this project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This event is for ages 3 to 6. Family Trivia Night: Oceans of Adventure Edition
Wednesday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m.

Tour the seven seas and dive to the ocean depths to test your knowledge of all things aquatic! Categories may include sea life, oceanography, navigation, nautical literature, and maritime pop culture. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams. Summer Reading 2022: Closing Celebration
Friday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m.
