Hillsborough County, Catholic Charities to Dedicate New Affordable Housing Complex
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 14, 2022) - Hillsborough County and Catholic Charities officials on Thursday, Sept. 15, will dedicate a new 20-unit apartment complex built specifically to house working, low-income families.
The complex is a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments that will be rented at below-market rates to working, low-income families.
Mercy Oaks is a project of Catholic Charities Diocese of St. Petersburg. Hillsborough County provided more than $2.4 million in funding. The blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature representatives from Hillsborough County and Catholic Charities Diocese of St. Petersburg as well as other local leaders.
Hillsborough County has prioritized addressing affordable housing issues, investing more than $54 million into the community in 2021, directly impacting more than 24,300 households. The programs and services funded by the County focus on creating new affordable housing opportunities, training for residents to further their careers in order to afford home ownership, and infrastructure improvements that enhance the communities around them.
