Hillsborough County Illuminates Green in Support of Veterans During Operation Green Light
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2022) - Hillsborough County is encouraging residents to shine a green light in support of veterans this week. Joe Chillura Courthouse Square and John F. Germany Public Library are illuminated green during Operation Green Light, and residents can participate, too.
Hillsborough County and Operation Green Light's mission is to show support for veterans and their families, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the County, State, and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.
Residents are encouraged to join the County in illuminating green by simply changing one light bulb in their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors see, or an interior light that sparks conversation with friends. By shining a green light, we are letting our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.
For residents who want to view the County's green lights this week, they can visit Joe Chillura Courthouse Square, 600 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33602, and John F. Germany Public Library, 900 N. Ashley Dr., Tampa, FL 33602.
Operation Green Light is a new initiative between Hillsborough County, the Florida Association of Counties, the National Association of Counties, and the National Association of County Veteran Services Officers.
