Hillsborough County Closes Emergency Storm Shelter at Erwin Technical College

Tropical Storm Nicole Update No. 5

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2022) - Hillsborough County has closed its emergency storm shelter at Erwin Technical College as of noon today.

The facility, at 2010 E. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL 33610, opened on Wednesday afternoon and provided shelter from Tropical Storm Nicole to 43 people.

Hillsborough County is now assisting the evacuees in the return to their homes, and transitioning shelter availability for evacuees who continue to need assistance.

Public officials urge residents returning to their homes to drive with caution, pay attention to the roadway, not drive through obstructions or standing water, and to stay away from downed power lines. Be aware that some traffic signals are not functioning. Those intersections should be treated like a four-way stop. Always remain alert when driving.
