County Reopens All Libraries, Parks, Nature Preserves and Boat Ramps Following Hurricane Idalia
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Aug. 31, 2023) - Hillsborough County will reopen all County facilities previously closed due to Hurricane Idalia. The facilities set to reopen include libraries, parks, nature preserves and boat ramps and will welcome residents on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023.
All County facilities will return to normal business hours.

Due to the Alafia River cresting during Hurricane Idalia, the springs and the canoe and kayak launch at Lithia Springs will remain closed.
In response to Hurricane Idalia, the County provided:
- 71,185 sandbags
- Sheltered 1,414 individuals including:
- General population 1,224
- Special Needs 153
- Pets 85
