Summer + Parks = Happiness
Summer is here, which means it's time to get your play on. And there's no place more convenient, more equipped, or more affordable to have fun than one of Hillsborough County's dozens of parks and recreation centers.
July is National Parks and Recreation month, and Hillsborough County's Parks & Recreation has a multitude of activities available for every age and fitness
Summer camps are in full swing to give bored kids plenty of healthy, educational, and fun options. Sports recreational leagues for baseball, basketball, soccer, pickleball, and more are available for youngsters, teens, and adults. Playgrounds and picnic shelters are perfect for family gatherings and birthday parties.
Exercise options abound, including walking and jogging tracks and a multitude of hiking trails highlighted during the recent Hiking Spree. Recreation centers are located throughout the county and offer weight rooms, basketball courts, and an assortment of classes for every interest from zumba to line dancing to martial arts.
Specialized facilities include dog parks and skateboard parks. It's not too late to compete for the title of Hillsborough County's Best Shredder. All People's Life Center is equipped to host athletics for those with special needs, including wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby leagues.
Seniors can find plenty of places to get their play on as well as compete. The long list of activities geared toward seniors includes quilting, bridge, mah jongg, walking clubs, and tone-and-stretch classes.
Parks & Recreation has always had the power to transform our daily lives, from providing places to play, get fit, and stay healthy to fostering new relationships and forging a connection with nature. This July - and every month - come out and get your play on!
