Discovery Pass is Your Free Ticket to Smart Fun

Museums and attractions partner with Libraries for year-round program

Looking for something fun and educational to do?

The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative can help.

The HCPLC's popular Discovery Pass is your free ticket to exploring about a dozen local museums and attractions. Venues such as Glazer Children's Museum, Tampa Bay History Center, and Stageworks Theatre are among the participants.

You can check availability from a remote location or on a computer at your local Hillsborough County library. Once patrons sign up and a pass is available, they can pick up confirmation receipts at any library branch. The receipts, which serve as free "tickets," are good for seven days after they are printed.

The number of free admissions included with each receipt varies, depending on the venue. It ranges from one child age 10 or younger at Big Cat Rescue, to two adults and three children under 18 at the Florida Holocaust Museum.

Signing up is easy. Anyone with a library card may request a pass. There are waiting lists for some of the venues.

The program has been popular since its inception four years ago. Library officials continue adding to the list of participating venues.

While checking out the Discovery Pass, look around the HCPLC website for many other offerings provided by your local library.
