Several Hillsborough Libraries Accept U.S. Passport Applications

Each of the participating locations offers evening and Saturday hours in addition to daytime appointments

You can find many services at Hillsborough County libraries, ranging from meeting space to mobile motorist services to tax help. Several libraries also offer a resource that can help you make that trip of a lifetime: U.S. passport application acceptance.

First-time applicants must submit their documentation and sign their paperwork in person at a Passport Acceptance Facility. In a partnership with the U.S. Department of State, several locations in the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library system are authorized Passport Acceptance Facilities, offering yet another way that libraries can offer a convenient service that will make life a little less stressful. Each of the library locations offers evening and Saturday hours in addition to daytime slots.

Appointments are necessary, and can be made by calling (813) 273-3652. An appointment must be made for each applicant, and all applicants must be present. Library passport services are for new applicants, and not for renewal services.

Travelers are reminded to apply for a passport card or passport book well before their trip. It typically takes the Department of State four to six weeks to process an application. Also, specific documents showing identification and proof of U.S. citizenship, as well as passport photos, must be submitted with the application.
