Discover Your Inner Holiday Crafter at Free Library Classes

Make one-of-a-kind keepsakes that feature your unique creative touch

Homemade holiday decorations and gifts are unique and treasured. If you're looking to create something special for either your home or as a gift, cast your eye no further than your local library.

The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative's free DIY programs are popular yearround. Library staff and other craft instructors find that participants enjoy learning a new skill, and creating a budget-friendly project they can customize. A group setting also offers attendees a chance to socialize, make new friends, and enjoy personal instruction.

December brings a stepped-up DIY schedule, with classes offered for how to make tree skirts, ornaments, and much more. Workshops are available for all age levels, depending on the project. Supplies are provided, too, a holiday gift from the various Friends groups that support libraries.

Here's a sampling of workshops. Most require advance registration. Don't wait to reserve your seat - space is limited for these classes, and they fill up quickly. For more information on these and similar classes, go to and look up your local library's events calendar.
