Watering restrictions

When are My Watering Days?

Residents and businesses in unincorporated Hillsborough County may water their landscapes twice a week

April and May often are among the driest months of the year. And with temperatures rising as summer approaches, the lack of rainfall can parch landscapes.

So far this year, rainfall has been below average and temperatures have been warmer than normal in Hillsborough County. As a result, people are asking: When are my watering days?

With no special dry-season restrictions in place, they're the same as usual: Mondays and Thursdays for addresses ending in 0, 1, 2, or 3; Tuesdays and Fridays for those ending in 4, 5, or 6; and Wednesdays and Saturdays for addresses ending in 7, 8, or 9.

Except for hand-watering and low-volume irrigation, landscape watering must take place before 8 AM or after 6 PM on allowable days -- either from midnight to 8 AM, or from 6 PM to midnight.

Hillsborough County Code Enforcement regularly enforces county ordinances for year-round watering restrictions. Observed violations may result in citations starting at $100.

Residents of Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City should check those cities' websites for any different restrictions.
