Everyone Counts in the 2020 Census!
Using data from the 2010 Census, the state of Florida received $44 billion dollars in funding from 55 federal spending programs. Hillsborough County's share of that funding went to local programs like:
- Public transit
- Head Start early childhood education
- School lunch program
- Health care for the homeless
- Children's health insurance
- Affordable housing programs
- Community development grants
- Fire department assistance grants
- Highway projects
With an accurate count from the census, these programs will receive the funding they need to better serve the community. But that's not all. The census count also determines the number of seats Florida receives in Congress. Without a true census count, our state and County could be underrepresented in D.C.
This year, taking the census will be easier than ever. All households will be able to respond online, on the phone, or through the mail. If you want to help everyone in Hillsborough County get counted, join our Complete Count Committee.
