COVID-19 and Pet Safety

Keeping our families healthy and safe includes our furry friends

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses common in people and some animals. COVID-19, an abbreviation of coronavirus disease 2019, is a new (novel) strain of coronavirus first detected in China in November. It has spread to many nations, including the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the disease spreads to humans through contact. Currently, there have been no reports of pets or livestock becoming ill or spreading the coronavirus in the U.S. However, as communities take steps to keep themselves safe from COVID-19, there are ways to make sure pets stay safe as well.

Check out the CDC website for more information on COVID-19 and animals.
