Service Updates for Pet Resources
The Pet Resource Center (PRC) will remain open to the public, including for pet adoptions, by-appointment only. To request an appointment, residents can contact 813-272-5900 or submit a request via HCFLGov.net/AtYourService.
In order to clear the shelter, adoption fees for dogs and cats are waived. Residents interested in adopting can also choose a dog or cat for adoption online and have the animal delivered to their home in Hillsborough County through the County's new, pilot Curbside Cuddles program.
In addition to the reduced hours Pet Resources will also make temporary changes to their services:
- Suspending intake of animals except in cases involving injury, severe neglect, or animal bites
- Suspending response to stray animal calls except in cases of injured or sick stray animals, complaints of cruelty or neglect, bites, or dangerous and aggressive dogs
- Fees for reclaiming a lost animal are waived
PRC is also urgently requesting pet foster parents who can commit to fostering a dog or cat for 2 to 4 weeks. In an abundance of caution for health and safety concerns, the volunteer programs at the Pet Resource Center have been suspended until future notice.
