Get Adaptive: Art Therapy with Marbles and Paint

Make a kaleidoscope of colors with paint and marbles

Looking for ways to paint that don't involve using brushes? Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation suggests incorporating the marble-run painting technique. This allows your child to use art with science and learn how the control of items creates a reaction.

Materials Needed:

  • Blank white paper
  • Marbles
  • Paint
  • Box or Tray - anything that has sides to keep in the marbles

Now that you have your materials, follow these step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: Put blank paper into the lid of a box or baking tray.
Step 2: Add a glob of your paint color. You can choose one at a time or add a few to see what mixtures you can come up with.
Step 3: Add a marble or two.
Step 4: Tilt the box/tray to move the marble through the paint.
Step 5: Watch the kaleidoscope of colors emerge across the paper.
