Get Adaptive: Matching Game with Animal Sounds
Matching games are beneficial for kids at every level of learning. Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation staff has a fun twist on the everyday matching game - incorporating animal sounds.
- Index cards
- Pictures of animals (cow, dog, cat, bird, sheep, etc.)
Now that you have your materials, let's get the matching game going.
Step 1: Cut out the pictures of the animals and glue the pictures to individual index cards.
Step 2: On the other side of the index card, write out the sound that animal makes.
Step 3: Once the cards are all put together, shuffle them up and place them either sound side up or picture side up - whichever way works best for your child.
Step 4: Have your child match the animal picture with the correct animal sound, or vice versa. To add more to your matching game collection, incorporate in inanimate objects that make noise like cars or trains. You can even ask your child what other animals you should add to the game to continue to grow it.
