Get Adaptive: Roll and Toss

Enhance learning at home by continuing to develop your child's fine motor and cognitive skills

Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation staff activity is an awesome way to enhance learning at home by using household items that are easy to locate. Fine motor skills and cognitive skills will be developed throughout this activity with repetition.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 dice (you can print one out from Google if you don't have one at home)
  • Tweezers or tongs
  • Coins (spare change)
  • Small jar or bucket

Step 1: Gather all supplies needed and place them in front of you.
Step 2: Roll the dice. The number you roll is the number of coins you need to pull.
Step 3: Take the coins and toss them into the jar or bucket using either the tweezers or tongs.
Step 4: Keep rolling the dice and tossing your coins into the jar until you run out of coins to toss. How many coins did you get into your jar? Try to beat that score next time you play.
Step 5: Get the whole family involved and see who can successfully toss in their coins with the tweezers or tongs!
