Get Creative: Make Your Own Doll

Get your creative juices flowing by making your own creation

Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation staff encourages kids to create their own dolls that will help with creativity and fine motor skills.

Materials Needed:

  • String or colored yarn
  • Paper plates
  • Scissors
  • Colored markers
  • Construction paper
  • Glue

Now that you have your materials ready, let's get started!

Step 1: Take a paper plate and draw an outline of a doll (head, neck, body, two arms, two legs).
Step 2: Cut out the outline.
Step 3: Cut out lines of string (for the hair) and glue onto the top of the head.
Step 4: Use the construction paper to make clothes (outline designs of shirts, pants, dresses, shoes) cut out and glue on paper plate doll.
Step 5: Use the marker to draw in the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
Step 6: Let doll dry and play with it. Want to add to it? Create a story about your doll and tell it to your family.
