Get Adaptive: Make Your Own Rainbow

Improve cognition by recognizing colors, and fine movement by tracing, cutting, and coloring

Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation staff has a fun and creative project you can make yourself.

Materials Needed:
• Construction paper of various colors (plus white)
• Googly eyes
• Glue
• Scissors
• Markers (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black)
• Popsicle sticks

Now that you have your materials ready, let's get started.

Step 1: Take one large piece of colored construction paper and one large piece of white construction paper.
Step 2: Trace a cloud on the white paper (Use picture to help).
Step 3: After the tracing the cloud, cut out of outline of the cloud and set it aside.
Step 4: Grab six Popsicle sticks and use the markers to color each one a different color.
Step 5: Color in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
Step 6: Glue the Popsicle sticks to the large untouched construction paper.
Step 7: Glue the cloud at the tip of the Popsicle sticks and to the base of the white paper (centered).
Step 8: Draw a smiley face and glue eyes onto the cloud.
