Lithia Pinecrest Intersection Improvements Make Roads Safer for All
If you live, work, or play in the Brandon, Fishhawk, or Valrico areas, there's a good chance you've noticed some major upgrades to the Lithia Pinecrest and Lumsden Road intersection during your daily commute.
The Hillsborough County Capital Programs department completed the highly anticipated Lithia Pinecrest Intersection Improvement Project in 2020, improving traffic flow at the intersection and providing safe, reliable transportation options for all road users.
The road previously lacked adequate turn lanes and signal systems to handle the increased traffic in the fast-growing area. In addition to a brand-new traffic signal system, new and extended turning lanes, drainage system upgrades, and concrete traffic separators on Lithia Pinecrest and Lumsden roads, the intersection improvement project also included several pedestrian and bicyclist safety features.
Outfitted with high-emphasis crossings, countdown pedestrian crossing signals, reflective pavement markers, retroreflective thermoplastic lane markings, and retroreflective signs for enhanced nighttime visibility, the intersection is a now safer place for those who walk, roll, or ride.
The principles of cost-effective infrastructure and safety design utilized in this project are regularly incorporated in County projects. Click here for more information about current and upcoming capital improvement projects,.
