Hurricane Idalia - Where to Turn if Your Home or Property were Affected

County offers post-storm assessment and local resource information hub

Hurricane Idalia hit Florida on Wednesday, Aug. 30, and multiple counties were affected by wind, flooding, and storm surge. Although Hillsborough County was spared the most severe impacts of the storm, residents in low-lying areas of the county have reported homes flooded and items lost.

The information below outlines how to report Hurricane Idalia-related damage to homes and property as well as the resources available to Hillsborough residents.

Damage Assessment- For Hillsborough residents to report loss or damage from Hurricane Idalia, complete the Hurricane Idalia Post-Storm Damage Assessment. Your information will be routed to the appropriate County department, and you will receive a response within 72 hours.

Residential and commercial property owners who need assistance completing the form can call Hillsborough County Customer Service Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at (813) 272-5900, and select Option 9.

The assessment results will be shared with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to illustrate post-storm needs in Hillsborough County.

Hurricane Idalia Local Recovery Resources - Although Hillsborough County is currently not under the disaster declaration with FEMA for residents to receive individual assistance through FEMA, local organizations are here to help Hillsborough residents. Visit HCFLGov.net/IdaliaRecovery, Hillsborough's post storm resource hub, to find local agencies offering assistance.

Damage Assessment Teams - Hillsborough County Office of Emergency Management, Florida Department of Emergency Management, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Red Cross teams are assessing damage in Hillsborough County communities and talking to residents. These assessments are important to understand Hurricane Idalia's impact in Hillsborough and community needs.
