Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5)

Hillsborough County Public Utilities is participating in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) fifth round of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5). The County will be monitoring for unregulated contaminants under UCMR 5 in 2023 and 2024. Results will be posted at the link below when they become available.

The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) amendments require that once every five years EPA issue a new list of no more than 30 unregulated contaminants to be monitored by public water systems under the UCMR. Unregulated contaminant monitoring helps the EPA to determine where certain contaminants occur and whether the EPA should consider regulating those contaminants for the protection of public health in the future.

Further information about the EPA's unregulated contaminant monitoring rule can be found at the EPA website or by calling the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Act Hotline at 1-800-426-4761.
