Thank you for visiting the Hillsborough County Florida’s COVID-19 Dashboard. This dashboard provides critical information on COVID-19 cases, testing, as well as daily healthcare system capacity. The goal of this dashboard is to present key metrics from various agencies to provide useful data for fact-based decision-making pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic within Hillsborough County.

The Stats at a Glance Report is a one-page summary of the data included in the dashboard slides below. The data in the report is updated with the same frequency as the dashboard.

We invite you to explore the data by scrolling through the charts below to review the information available in each graph. Please note, most of the data is updated twice a day, while testing data is updated once per week.

Note: Moving averages (7-day and 14-day) are statistical tools that smooth out short-term variations in data to present a more consistent snapshot of overall data trends.

Data Definitions

COVID-19 Benchmark Summary (Slide 1) 1, 2, 3, 4

  • Total Cases – The number of total COVID-19 cases since March 2, 2020.
  • Total Fatalities (Est.) – Estimated number of total COVID-19 fatalities since March 2, 2020.
  • Fatality Rate (Est.) – Estimated percentage of fatalities among those who contract COVID-19.
  • Total Recovered (Est)  – Estimated number of people who have recovered from COVID-19.
  • Latest Reporting Testing Week – The most recent weekly period for which testing data has been provided.

Case Data (Slide 2) 1

  • Case Percentage Change (7-Day) The daily number of COVID-19 cases within the prior 7-day period compared against the number of cases within the current 7-day period.
  • Case: Rolling Average (7-Day) – The average of the daily percentage of COVID-19 cases within the prior 7-day period compared against the number of cases within the current 7-day period.
  • Case Percentage Change (14-Day) – The daily number of COVID-19 cases within the prior 14-day period compared against the number of positive cases within the current 14-day period.
  • Case: Rolling Average (14-Day) – The average of the daily percentage of COVID-19 cases within the prior 14-day period compared against the number of cases within the current 14-day period.

Testing Data (Slide 3) 3, 6

  • Average Per Week (14 Day) – The average number of COVID-19 tests conducted within the past 14 days.
  • Rolling Average (14 Day) – The average of the daily totals of tests conducted within the previous 14 days.
  • Percent Positive (14 Day) – The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results received within the current 14-day period compared to the total number of all COVID-19 tests conducted within the same period.
  • Rolling Average (14 Day) – The average of the daily percentage of positive COVID-19 test results received during the previous 14-day period.

Hospitalization Data (Slide 4) 2, 5

  • Percent Change Census (7 Day) – The average number of daily COVID-19 positive hospitalizations for the current 7-day period compared to the average daily COVID-19 positive hospitalizations for the previous 7-day period.
  • Rolling Average (7 Day) – The average of the daily hospitalization totals for the previous 7 days.
  • Percent Occupancy (7 Day) – The percentage of hospital space that is occupied by COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients for the previous 7 days.
  • Rolling Average (7 Day) – The average of the daily percentage of hospital space occupied by COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients for the previous 7 days.

COVID-19 Case Data by School Age Groups (Slide 5) 1, 5, 6

  • Daily Cases By Age Group – Total number of cases for each school age group by day.
  • 7 Day Case Total Per 100K Residents By Age Group – Rolling seven day case total by age group divided by the population of the respective age group multiplied by 100,000. This is then plotted over time.
