Engine Visit

The fire engine will visit your location providing an opportunity to see the vehicle, tools, and learn about firefighting operations. The children will be able to see the firefighters put on their bunker gear and air tank. In addition, the firefighters will discuss home escape plans and their role in helping the community. Note: the engine will remain in service and is required to respond to emergencies.

Ages: all ages
Program Length: 30-45 minutes


Station Tour

Visit your local fire station and get a glimpse into the life of an on-duty firefighter. You will tour the common areas of the station, meet the crew and learn about their daily responsibilities. Participants will also tour the fire engine to learn about the tools and equipment carried on the engine. A firefighter will dress up in bunker gear and discuss fire safety best practices. Note: the engine will remain in service and is required to respond to emergencies.

Program Length: 45-60 minutes


Prepare with Pedro

Prepare with Pedro is a preparedness education program for grades K-2 that teaches students how to be prepared and take action for either home fires or local hazards such as hurricanes—presented by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue in partnership with the American Red Cross.

Ages: 5-8
Program Length: 30-45 minutes


Pillowcase Project

The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program for grades 3-5 that teaches students about personal and family preparedness and safety skills, local hazards, and basic coping skills. Upon completion, students receive a sturdy pillowcase to build their own emergency evacuation kit. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue presents this class in partnership with the American Red Cross.

Ages: 9-11
Program Length: 60 minutes


Hands-Only CPR

Join Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, in partnership with the American Heart Association, to learn the life-saving skill of Hands-Only CPR. Participants will receive hands-on training that will empower them to act when help is needed. *HCFR provides Hands-Only CPR instruction and not certified CPR courses.

Ages: 10 & Up
Program Length: 60 minutes


Stop the Bleed

Join Hillsborough County Fire Rescue to learn to recognize a life-threatening bleed and how to intervene to save a life. Blood loss is the number one cause of preventable death after an injury; with three quick actions, you can be trained to Stop The Bleed.

Ages:13 & Up
Program Length: 60 minutes


Fire Safety

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will provide the education and skills needed to protect your home and family from the dangers of fire. This free program will cover smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and escape planning to help your family prepare and have the best chance of surviving a fire.

Ages: 5 & Up – program delivered at age-appropriate level
Program Length: 30 minutes


Fire Extinguisher Training

Participants will learn how to properly operate a fire extinguisher and be prepared to effectively suppress small fires. Participants will be able to get hands-on experience by practicing with a virtual fire extinguisher while learning the steps for use and other safety tips.

Ages: 13 & Up
Program Length: 30-45 minutes


Senior Safety

Join Hillsborough County Fire Rescue as they discuss how to keep yourself or that special senior in your life safer in their home. This informational program will teach you about fall prevention, common medication mistakes, smoke alarms, and cooking safety.

Ages: Adults
Program Length: 45-60 minutes


First Aid/First Responder for Boy & Girl Scouts

The first aid/ first responder program teaches scouts the basics of recognizing medical and trauma emergencies and how to perform field triage. The students will demonstrate basic first aid skills, including splinting long-bone injuries, bleeding control, environmental emergencies, automated external defibrillator (AED), when and how to start CPR, and necessary precautions to take while rendering aid to sick or injured individuals.

*HCFR provides Hands-Only CPR instruction and not certified CPR courses.

Ages: 10-18
Program Length: 45-60 minutes.


Water Safety

Join Hillsborough County Fire Rescue as they discuss the importance of learning how to swim, the rules of swimming safely at the pool and in open water, and other crucial age-appropriate safety tips. Participants will enjoy an interactive experience that encourages individuals of all ages to participate in the classroom instruction.

Ages: 4 & Up
Program Length: 30-45 minutes


Safety Superhero Academy

Join Hillsborough County Fire Rescue as you learn to be a Safety Superhero! This program teaches children about hazards in the home, how to prevent burns, dial 911 for emergencies, fire safety, home escape planning, and storm safety. These interactive lessons can be taught as one continuous program or as individual segments; each topic is approximately 20-30 minutes. Please get in touch with HCFR for further descriptions of each program.

Fire Safety Simulator

Join Hillsborough County Fire Rescue for an interactive experience in our state-of-the-art fire safety trailer. Our fire safety simulator provides common fire and emergency scenarios in the household and industrial settings in three different spaces. Participants will be able to walk through the interactive rooms and learn about kitchen safety, storm preparedness, industrial safety, escape planning, BBQ grill, propane hazards, natural gas emergencies, appliance safety, and electrical safety. The fire safety simulator allows our public educators to provide hands-on demonstrations to maximize participants learning experience. The simulator can be requested for schools, corporate, and public events.

Ages: All ages
Program Length: 20-30 minutes.
